🇬🇧 United Kingdom Return to Junior Eurovision

The BBC confirmed that the United Kingdom will return to Junior Eurovision this year,. The nation last participated back in 2005. CBBC, BBC One and BBC iPlayer will broadcast the show.

This year marks the first time that BBC will take part in Junior Eurovision, with previous participations organised by ITV. The selection process is underway, led by CBBC with BBC Studios Entertainment and Music. Further information regarding the artist and song will be announced in due time.

Speaking of their return, Patricia Hidalgo, Director BBC Children’s and Education said,

‘We are beyond excited to bring the Junior Eurovision Song Contest to the BBC for the first time, and to showcase the diverse young musical talent from across Europe for children and their families to discover and enjoy together. This junior version of Eurovision will undoubtedly encapsulate the same spirit of unity that the adult contest brings, reflecting the heart of what CBBC is all about, an inclusive channel that celebrates the diversity and creativity in all children. I can’t wait to unveil our own musical talent who will proudly represent the UK.’

The United Kingdom made their debut in 2003 with Tom Morley, who finished in third place. In 2004, representative Cory Spedding finished in 2nd place, and in 2005 Joni Fuller finished in 14th.
